After the short meeting to present the annual reports and elections we will have a program where we invite all attendees to bring one (yes, just one!) item that they consider precious. We’re looking for the kind of things that mean something to you, not necessarily with much monetary value. The things that recall people and places, that remind us of being loved, that affirm what we believe in. The possessions that make connections between past and future. We will invite all participants to talk briefly (about a minute, or an elevator conversation) about their item. If your item is too big or bulky to bring in, you can bring a picture, or just describe it (but the description will come out of your minute!) The more the merrier, and the better conversations we will have afterwards about what is truly “valuable.” Invite a friend to join in what should be a sentimental journey of discovery into the stories of our early possessions.  We hope to see you there!

The Woodbury Heritage Society invites you to round out your summer activities with a visit to the Woodbury Heritage House and Garden at any of our last three Open Houses on August 28, September 11 and 25 from 1-4 p.m.  Kids can meet the newest addition in the garden, a model milking cow.  You can enter the contest to choose a name for the pretty bovine and try your hand at “milking” her (it’s harder than it looks, but you won’t get kicked as often).   This latest addition to our exhibit helps to highlight the importance dairy farming played in Woodbury’s past.  New members and volunteers are always welcome.

We will also be electing new representatives to the Board of Directors and updating members of the Woodbury Heritage Society’s activities during the past year and our plans for the future. We hope to see you all there. As always, the refreshments alone are worth the trip.
